Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth – SMST is India’s first School of Medical Sciences offering a wide variety of programs in a wide variety of formats.
It is an interdisciplinary academic institution that integrates medical sciences, healthcare technology, and biomedical research and focuses on producing healthcare professionals with expertise in clinical practice, medical research, and technological innovation.

Dr. Ullas Mony
Ph.D (Haematology)
Dean and Professor – School of Medical Sciences Technology
Dr. Mony received his Ph.D (Haematology) from The University of Nottingham, UK. He had his postdoctoral training as a senior fellow in a collaborative research programme at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre, USA, and Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, USA. He also got trained in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) generation and differentiation from The University of Queensland and Monash University, Australia.
Dr. Mony had more than 15 years of teaching and research experience from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, Kerala and Saveetha University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, before moving to Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth. His research interest includes immuno-hematology, immunotherapy, cell therapy. hemato-oncology, tumor microenvironment, preclinical drug discovery (small molecules), pre-clinical mice model development of cancers, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). His publications are in major international journals of repute including Leukemia, Blood, Haematologica, Molecular Oncology, Scientific Reports and International Immunopharmacology.

School of Medical Sciences Technology is dedicated to providing the highest quality education in the health professions education and basic medical sciences. We offer outstanding health care technology and cutting edge scientific degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Our undergraduate programs covers all leading edge courses in medical sciences including cardiovascular technology, emergency medicine and critical care technology, radiology and imaging technology, medical lab technology, nuclear medicine technology, surgical robotic technology, anaesthesia and OT technology, dialysis technology, neuroscience technology and molecular medicine and stem cell technology,
Our graduate programs comprises of all innovative programs of medical sciences including transplantation technology (heart and lung), cardiovascular technology, surgical laparoscopic technology, emergency medicine and critical care technology, radiation therapy technology, physician assistant, surgical robotic technology and anaesthesia and OT technology. We also have a Centre of Excellence in Molecular Medicine and Stem Cell Technology offering specialised cutting edge graduate programs in molecular medicine and stem cell technology, cellular therapy, stem cell and regenerative medicine and computational biology.

Dean and Professor – School of Medical Sciences & Technology
Qualification- MBBS, MD ( Pharmacology )
Dr. Somnath Motgi, MBBS, MD (Pharmacology), currently serves as the Dean, School of Medical Sciences & Technology. He completed his MBBS and MD (Pharmacology) at Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Kalaburagi, Karnataka, between 1997 and 2001. Dr. Motgi has over 24 years of teaching experience, having taught medical, dental, nursing, and postgraduate students. He has previously served as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, and as Vice Principal (Academic) at Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. A recognized academician and researcher, he has been a Biomedical Research Protocol Reviewer for medical postgraduates since 2016 and has guided several MD (Pharmacology) and M.Sc. (Medical Pharmacology) students under Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh. In recognition of his contributions to medical education, he was honored with the Best Teacher Award by the Indian Book of Records on 15 August 2023.
Dr. Somnath Motgi serves as the Member Secretary of the Institutional Ethics Committee (DHR & CDSCO) at Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, a position he has held since June 2016. He also served as Member Secretary of the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) from 2016 to 2023 and continues to contribute as the Convener of the Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre (AMC) at the same institution. Dr. Somnath Motgi has guided an ICMR Short Term Studentship (STS)–approved research project (2019) and has been an active academic contributor, serving as a Member of the Board of Studies in Pharm.D. Under the Faculty of Pharmacy, Osmania University, Hyderabad (2007–2009) and as a Member of the Board of Studies at Malla Reddy University (2022). He also coordinates Academic Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs at MRIMS. Dr. [Last Name] has chaired and delivered talks at numerous national conferences and workshops, published research papers in national journals, and organized several Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programs for school children, nursing students, and Pharm.D. students, reflecting his commitment to promoting ethical research and drug safety awareness.
