Course Overview

M.Sc. Bariatric Surgery Technology program at Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth, Hyderabad, is a postgraduate course designed to provide advanced knowledge and technical expertise in assisting bariatric and metabolic surgeries, focusing on obesity management and weight-loss procedures.

This program focuses on equipping students with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills from 1st semester itself. The curriculum covers surgical techniques for procedures such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic bariatric surgeries. Students are trained in patient assessment, preoperative and postoperative care, surgical instrumentation, and advanced laparoscopic technologies.

Graduates of this program emerge as ‘skilled Senior Bariatric Surgical Technologists or Assistants’, enabling them to pursue further higher studies & do research in Bariatric Surgery and Obesity Management, along with plenty of job opportunities globally.

Description: 2 Years Degree Program

No. of Credits: 80 minimum and as specified

  • The minimum eligibility is a B.Sc. degree in Surgical Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university.

The M.Sc. Bariatric Surgery Technology curriculum provides advanced training in bariatric surgical procedures, patient care management, post-operative care, and surgical safety. This program prepares students for roles in operating rooms, bariatric clinics, hospitals, and specialized weight loss surgery centers.
