MRV – SDH: India’s First
Digital Health School

The future is digital. Health care landscape is transforming significantly driven by the rapid integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), intelligent automation (IA) and advanced air mobility (AAM). The real choice now lies between transforming to digital health systems, stay ahead or continue down the road of incremental analog improvement and fade away.

As this digital transformation unfolds, it is crucial, not just to address present traditional challenges like awareness, accessibility, absence of skills, affordability, accountability thru small marginal advances but to think long term, in to the future.

Digital health transformation goes beyond improving data collection, analysis, graphs, health records…; it involves rethinking the fundamentals of how health is delivered in traditional facilities like hospitals, clinics to non traditional locations like home, work place, social locations and almost every where a person spends time…leading to not just management of disease, but to true prevention, prediction and creating a comprehensive, comprehensive, continuous, contextualised, convergent, person cantered plan for long healthy and happy life.

The School of Digital Health (SDH) at Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth (MRV), the first in India, aims to lead this digital health care transformation and aspires to the best in India addressing not just the present challenges of health care and but to create a digital framework and path way for better, longer, healthier life for every Indian.

Digital Health requires inter disciplinary expertise – starting with health care, and expanding in to design, analytics, hardware, software, management, economics, mobility, regulations, intellectual property, ethics, security….its a long list.

Malla Reddy Academic ecosystem with existing hospitals, medical, dental, nursing, allied health, engineering, business, agriculture… schools has deep academic, technical, research expertise and a incredible future ready vision, which is best suited to build the necessary inter disciplinary national and possibly global school of excellence in Digital Health.

SDH at MRV will create professionals who can leverage these opportunities and contribute to the field.  Digital Health offers significant job opportunities and is one of the fastest areas of job growth. Job opportunities in Digital Health exist within many sectors including healthcare device companies, healthcare software companies, hospital systems, health insurance, pharma companies, consulting and research organizations. Digital Health offers significant startup / entrepreneurship opportunities.

Mission values of MRV-SDH

  • Developing a world-class digital health curriculum suitable for skill, output and impact based education
  • Create professionals out of students who can, understand, leverage these opportunities and contribute from the front line to the field.
  • Work on cutting-edge research that imagines and enables the desired future of long life thru digital health, such as digital twins, AI, IA, AAM, robotics including humanoids…
  • Creating a hi value-based job ecosystem, by networking with like-minded public and private organizations, to create a fulfilling career path way to our professionals
  • Seeding a national and global-digital health innovation hub that brings together the best minds to address our challenges and start up companies that can serve globally and profitably.

Dr.Suresh Munuswamy

MBBS (Madras), MPH (Oxford), PhD (Tokyo) Dean & Professor

Dean and Professor – School of Digital Health Sciences & Technology

The digital transformation is reshaping daily life—media, banking, communication, and healthcare. As life expectancy increases, digital health is becoming essential, driving new processes, products, and skills.

This shift requires an interdisciplinary approach, merging healthcare, design, and engineering. Every day, millions of health data points from personal devices, doctor visits, and public health records shape treatment and prevention.

Beyond hospitals, homes, workplaces, and social spaces are emerging as new healthcare frontiers, where health monitoring and intervention can lead to longer, healthier lives.

Deans Message

The future is Digital and we will all be living longer. A combination, that will transform the way we live. The transformation is already under way….thru digital media, banking, ticketing, communication…even grocery shopping thru e-commerce is changing.

Digital health and in extension, digital empowered life is taking centre stage and a long list of new processes, new products, new skills for people is rapidly become an emerging requirement.

These “new” solutions require a inter disciplinary approach, and at a very granular level require convergence of health care with design, engineering and human centricity.

Millions of health-related data points are already being generated every day, from information collected by our personal devices, doctor’s office visits to public health data collection about disease prevalence and treatment outcomes.

In addition several non traditional health care determinants and facilities that affect a person’s health like home, work place, social locations and almost every where a person spends time are also emerging as the new frontiers of health care, where every step of human life can potentially be monitored, measured, modified for a healthy and happy life.

The emergence of (Artificial Intelligence)  AI + (Intelligent Automation) IA- driven new ecosystem will offer unprecedented insights by integrating diverse layers of human data—electronic health records, imaging, wearable biosensors, genomics, proteomics, microbiome information, social determinants of health, and environmental exposures.

Professionals trained in managing this complex data led ecosystem are absolutely essential to delivering comprehensive, continuous, contextualised, convergent, person cantered, transformative health care and systems. They need to understand both the potential benefits and limitations of these methods to minimize the possibility that new technologies will be implemented in a manner that will ultimately lead to equitable and universal health care, well being leading to long life.

Despite this seismic shift, already happening, there is a critical gap of relevant, necessary skills at all levels to realise the promise of digital health to a practical reality.

Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth, part of the Malla Reddy academic ecosystem, with existing hospitals, medical, dental, nursing, allied health, engineering, business, agriculture… schools, recognised this need and has started India’s first School of Digital Health, offering a wide variety of future ready academic programs, backed by a strong, innovative, cutting edge, research ecosystem.
