Course Overview

B.Sc. Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre (OT) Technology program at Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth, Hyderabad, is an undergraduate course designed to train students to assist anaesthesiologists and surgeons in the administration of anaesthesia, operation theatre management, and patient monitoring during surgical procedures.

This program focuses on equipping students with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills from 1st semester itself. The curriculum integrates an in-depth understanding of anaesthesia techniques, surgical protocols, and the operation of advanced medical equipment. The minimum eligibility for B.Sc. Anaesthesia & OT Technology is a pass in 10+2 with at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized board (CBSE/ISC) or equivalent.

  • Anaesthesia Administration: Techniques in calculating dosages, preparing and administering anaesthesia agents, and monitoring patient vitals.
  • Airway Management: Mastery of intubation, extubation, and usage of airway adjuncts like LMAs (Laryngeal Mask Airways).
  • Patient Monitoring: Operating ECG, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and other devices to monitor patients during surgery.
  • OT Setup and Management: Preparing the OT for surgeries, arranging instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring equipment functionality.
  • Post-Anaesthesia Care: Managing patients in the recovery room, monitoring for complications, and ensuring safe patient discharge.
